Send one item with Quick Share
Send a connection or a query to colleagues, accept or reject what they send you, and filter senders.
Quick Share sends a copy of one connection or one query to one or more people. Unlike a shared folder, the copy is the recipient’s own: it is not kept in sync afterwards. Both sides must be signed in to the same team server.
Send
- In My resources, right-click a connection and choose Quick Share connection, or right-click a query and choose Quick Share query.
- Under Recipients, type an e-mail address and click Add. Repeat for each recipient.
- For a connection, tick Copy credentials (the password is sent to the recipients) only if they should use your login.
- Click Send.
Receive
Requests appear under Quick Share requests (n) in My resources. Right-click one:
- Accept: a connection is added to your connections under a free name (
name (1)when the name is taken), its password, if one was sent, in your credential store; a query is saved to My queries. The request is then removed from the server. - Reject: the request is removed.
A received connection is checked and cleaned before it is saved: see Use connections other people shared.
Allow and block senders
In Edit › Preferences › Team Sharing:
| List | Effect |
|---|---|
| Allowed e-mail addresses | When not empty, only these senders reach you |
| Blocked e-mail addresses | These senders never reach you |
Entries are addresses ([email protected]) or whole domains (@example.com). They apply to Quick
Shares and shared folder invitations. Requests from a filtered sender are hidden and you are not
notified; the sender is not told. If you change the lists later, the hidden requests show again. An
address in both lists is refused. The lists are stored on the server, so they follow your account.
Limits
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Recipients per Quick Share | 50 (not yourself) |
| Pending requests per recipient | 500 |
| Pending requests from one sender to one recipient | 20 |
| Lifetime of a pending request | 30 days |
Tips
- Quick Share suits a one-off hand-over. For something a group keeps using and improving, use a shared folder.
- Command line and agents:
share.quick-share-connection,share.quick-share-query,share.list-quick-shares,share.accept-quick-share,share.reject-quick-share,share.preferences,share.set-preferences.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause and fix |
|---|---|
| Quick Share is unavailable | Sign in first (Edit › Preferences › Team Sharing) |
| The recipient never sees the request | Their allow or block list filters you, their signed-up account is not verified yet, or 20 of your requests to them are already pending |
| You cannot send at all from a new account | A signed-up account cannot send until the administrator verifies it |
| The accepted connection asks for a password | The sender did not copy credentials: enter your own |
